Has Zinedine Zidane been right about James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale after getting rid of both the Real Madrid superstars earlier this summer?

Zinedine Zidane had ostracized James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale during their final season at Real Madrid. The pair together have contributed immensely towards Los Blancos’s achievements over the past few years. However, neither of the two have gotten along very well with Zidane.

So much so, James Rodriguez had even asked Zidane to stop including him in the match-day squad during the business end of the La Liga campaign last season where Real emerged as champions for the 34th time.

Gareth Bale’s case was a completely different ball game itself. The Welshman was publicly humiliated by Zidane before the start of 2019/20 season when the manager stated  “Let’s hope, for everyone’s sake, that it happens soon” when Bale was linked with a move to China.

Nonetheless, none of the two players share bad blood with Zinedine Zidane nor do they have any regrets after leaving the Bernabeu. However, has Zinedine Zidane right by treating the Welshman and the Colombian the way he did?

In the case of James Rodriguez, it seems like the former AS Monaco midfielder has made a bold statement in the Premier League. Before sustaining a major injury, Rodriguez hit the ground running with Everton.

The attacking midfielder had 3 goals and 3 assists in his first six Premier League games with Everton and boasted the stats of being the most creative player in the league. However, an untimely injury has now kept James out of action for quite a while. In other words, James has been performing admirably well at Everton so far apart from the recent injury that has kept him out.

On the flipside, Gareth Bale has been below-par at Tottenham Hotspur. The Welsh winger is yet to kickstart his life at north London despite half a season being played already. Bale certainly is not the same player he once was and his decline as of now cannot be justified.

Some believe that the Welshman declined due to Zinedine Zidane’s treatment whereas others believe that it’s his long-list of injuries coupled with his lack of interest in football due to the treatment he received by the Frenchman. Nonetheless, so far has been right about Bale’s decline and why he was not playing every match-day at the Bernabeu.
