Midfielders

Toni Kroos – A
A good season so far for Toni Kroos as the ‘German Machine’ was able to cement himself consistently as one of the best players in the squad and his ability to move the ball forward is always a joy to watch. The midfielder has had his ups and downs but overall, he’ll be hoping that he can continue on this form.

Luka Modric – A
What a sensational change in form for Luka Modric! He wasn’t at his best last season but he’s been able to put that behind him and show that even at 35-years-old, he’s still one of the best midfielders on the planet. The Croatian is hoping to finish his career with Real Madrid and judging by how he has been doing, I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t!

Carlos Casemiro – B
Not his best season so far even though he has delivered some very strong performances. It looks as though fatigue may finally be getting the better of him as the defensive midfielder has been used in almost all games for Real Madrid as well as the Brazilian National Team. Without another natural defensive midfielder in the team, his time on the pitch doesn’t seem to be decreasing anytime soon.

Federico Valverde – B
Federico Valverde has continued being a very dependable midfielder and ready to do what it takes to prove himself whenever he’s on the pitch. Unfortunately for him, an injury left him away from the matches for a while but he seems like he’s ready to fight once again for the remainder of the campaign.

Martin Odegaard – C
A really difficult rating to give but Martin Odegaard simply hasn’t had the time he needs to integrate with the team. Whether it was due to injury or simply not being selected, the Norwegian midfielder has only started in 5 matches and came on as a substitute in 4 others. He needs more time and if he was given that opportunity, his rating would have definitely been higher.

Isco – D
Another extremely inconsistent season for Isco who started 3 matches but came on as a substitute 7 times so far. Apart from maybe a couple matches where he was able to make an impact, Isco hasn’t delivered and his inconsistency hurts the team. He’ll need to improve drastically if he has any chance of turning his fortunes around.
