Dortmund ST Erling Haaland

In the section on Kylian Mbappe, I closed with a line stating that no single player in world football can bring the quality or personality that fits Real Madrid more than him. But if there were to be a secondary player, then I would, without hesitation, select Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

When you watch Haaland in the Bundesliga, you cannot help but notice just how important he is to Dortmund. Even when they are mediocre, Haaland finds the quality to rescue them. While Dortmund have quality players, they are struggling this season and only Gio Reyna is truly providing consistent service for the striker. You could only imagine what Haaland would be capable of in Madrid with, say, Martin Odegaard and Toni Kroos feeding him passes with additional teasing deliveries from right back Dani Carvajal.

Haaland has 10 goals in nine appearances for the Black and Yellows in the 2020-2021 Bundesliga campaign thus far. After scoring 10 goals in eight Champions League appearances last campaign, Haaland has six in four for Dortmund this season.

There are areas where Haaland can improve, such as in his body language when things aren’t going his way – he picked up a yellow card against Wolfsburg for kicking the ball out after an unlucky handball – and in his technique. But there are also areas in which he is rapidly improving, such as his chance-creation and effort for the team.

Real Madrid won’t be able to purchase Haaland until 2022, but he is the only out-and-out striker who should be on their radar. He is another true Galactico.
