LUKA JOVIC

A picture speaks a thousand words and here’s one that does. Despite putting in a great shift against Real Valladolid earlier this season, Zinedine Zidane decided to take Luka Jovic off at the 60th-minute mark. The expression on both the individual’s faces says it all.

When it comes to playing Luka Jovic, Zidane generally brings on the player when there are 10 minutes or less left in the game. And when he gets a rare occasional start, then Jovic gets substituted at the 60th-minute mark. This clearly explains why Jovic has only 580 minutes in La Liga despite having 21 appearances registered against his name in Spain’s top-flight division.

The Serbian striker’s patience has probably run out after the game against Celta Vigo. Zidane brought on Mariano Diaz instead of Jovic towards the end of the game and the smile on the Serb said it all. It could have possibly even been the last straw for Jovic. A loan move is now the best option for Luka Jovic if he is to turn his fortunes around, however, if he decides to stay then it rests assured that he will not get game-time unless Karim Benzema picks up an injury.
