ALVARO ODRIOZOLA

It is obvious that Alvaro Odriozola is not a star player at Real Madrid. The former Real Sociedad right-back was signed as a back-up to Dani Carvajal who arguably is the world’s best right-back. Odriozola’s role at the club is to play second to fiddle to Dani Carvajal, however, that has not been the case for the San Sebastian man.

There is absolutely no way that Odriozola can replace Carvajal given how important the latter is to the team offensively and while defending as well. However, the young right-back does deserve a few minutes occasionally which again has not been the case.

Alvaro played 57 minutes against Valladolid before picking up an injury and since then has not featured in the white jersey. Lucas Vazquez has performed an impeccable job in covering up the right-flank since then and now there seems to be absolutely no room for Alvaro Odriozola. The Spanish Super-Cup and the Copa Del Rey could the only two competitions where the 25-year-old could possibly receive a few minutes.
