WINNING LA LIGA IN 2019-20

2018-19 was the worst season for Real Madrid as far as recent memory suggests. It was thought that Los Blancos had lost their charm and it would not come back for long. The season did not start well either as the Whites drew two of their first three La Liga outings which put Zinedine Zidane under pressure of being sacked for the nth time in his career.

As always, the manager and the club turned a corner and silenced the doubters with a terrific turnaround which saw them beat both, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, by a comfortable margin to the championship. Throughout the season, the Merengues did not ship a single goal to both of their fiercest rivals in all competitions.

Following lockdown in Spain, Zidane based his principles on defensive stability which helped Real Madrid beat Barcelona to La Liga by a comfortable margin in the end. Not to forget, the 10-match winning run during June and July came in very handy and it has to be handed to Zizou who ensured that most of his players were at the top of their game in a difficult period.
