SILVERWARE FEST IN 2016-17 SEASON

Real Madrid picked up silverware after silverware in the 2016/17 season as a superb squad depth, coupled by players at the prime of their capabilities saw the 13-time European champions live through one of their greatest seasons ever. This was also one of the greatest football teams ever assembled in the history of the game.

In the earlier half of the season, Madrid claimed a UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup which was instrumental in the team’s morale in winning La Liga and Champions League later on. Not to forget, the team remained unbeaten until January 2017 and had knit up a 40-match run of being undefeated until they lost to Sevilla.

Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo will be remembered for this season very profoundly because of how well they did, but even the fringe players like Alvaro Morata, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez were unimaginably good. A squad with as much ambition and depth as this one will be difficult to build anytime soon.
