Dortmund ST Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland most likely won’t be available to transfer until 2022, because Borussia Dortmund will already sell Jadon Sancho this summer after turning down Manchester United’s lowball offers in 2020. So the Black and Yellows don’t really want to sell two superstar players, especially since they aren’t exactly playing great football in 2020-2021.

This list is about targets, though, and because Haaland is one of the few players who could truly be a Galactico for a decade, he is very much a constant in Real’s eyes. Haaland will be cheaper and readier for a move in 2022, but if Real could possibly swing a deal this year, they should stay waiting for a transfer.

What impresses everyone the most about Haaland are his finishing and his athleticism. I can scarcely name a player with his size/speed combination at any position. Haaland is a nightmare for defenders to track off the ball, and he will easily outmuscle them on the ball. At Dortmund, Haaland is becoming a team player and has been very good at getting teammates involved. I’ve especially enjoyed his chemistry with passing-wizard Gio Reyna and the ever-underrated wide man Raphael Guerreiro.

Haaland is already a better finisher than Karim Benzema, though Benzema is still the better overall player because of his all-around quality. Therefore, it’s also worth keeping in mind that Haaland may only want to move to Real Madrid after they have decided to replace Benzema. I’m sure he doesn’t want to even think of risking a Luka Jovic situation, though he knows he is surely looked upon with brighter eyes than Jovic.
