The situation regarding Sergio Ramos’s contract renewal at Real Madrid keeps on getting complicated. The club has now offered the defender two options.
Real Madrid are at crossroads with Sergio Ramos over a potential renewal. The 35-year-old defender has his contract running out at the end of the season and has not yet come to an agreement with Real over a renewal.
The player demands a two-year renewal, meanwhile, Real Madrid maintains a policy of offering only a single-year extension to players that are past the age of 30. Ramos wishes to be an exception in this case, however, the club seems to stand strong with their rigid policy.
Having said that, Paris Saint-Germain are willing to counter Real’s offer by preparing a three-year deal along with an increase in Sergio Ramos’s current wage. PSG’s interest along with Ramos’s intention of listening to new offers has created a state of panic at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Le 10 sports reports that Josep Pederol of El Chiringuito has claimed that Los Blancos have put two offers on Sergio Ramos’s table. The two options are a one-year contract with no change salary or a two-year contract coupled with a 10% deduction with his salary.
Both the options do not seem to convince Sergio Ramos as the 35-year-old is more convinced and inclined towards the project that Paris Saint-Germain are offering him. The 2019-20 UEFA Champions League finalist’s plan on signing Lionel Messi of Barcelona, this potential plan has made the Parc des Princes a lot more attractive in the eyes of Sergio and Rene Ramos.
After having spent 15 seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, a possible exit could be on the cards for the Spanish defender. Real Madrid must tread carefully as replacing Sergio Ramos would be no piece of cake. The club must reconsider their policy and consider offering Ramos a two-year deal along with an increment in his salary as an exception to the policy.
