Erling Haaland is possibly the only player in Europe at the moment who can outdo Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of goal-scoring records if he joins Real Madrid.
Real Madrid were held to a winless result for the seventh time in La Liga this season as Osasuna stood strong to claim a 0-0 draw on Saturday evening. The Whites lacked attacking acumen and had only one strong on target, which once again highlighted the lack of goal-scoring prowess among the current players on a relatively decent day.
Karim Benzema was not at the top of his game and as a result of that, most of Madrid’s attackers were unable to draw inspiration. The French marksman has been the club’s top-scorer in each of the last two seasons but it is high-time that the Whites relieve some pressure off his shoulders and bring in a tried and tested goal-scorer.
Erling Haaland has been one of the most closely linked players to the defending La Liga champions in recent months, but the side has now received a piece of unwanted news, according to OK Diario. Borussia Dortmund’s CEO in Hans-Joachim Watzke has insisted that Haaland may not yet be ready to play for a club of Real Madrid’s calibre.
"If Erling leaves us it is to go to a bigger club and many are not yet ready for that, if you choose to go to a club like Real Madrid, for example, you have to be a world-class footballer. Erling and his agent know what we have. But I can advise you to do like Lewandowski, to leave here already become a world star and that cannot be achieved in a single year."
Haaland has Mino Raiola as his agent and he is perhaps the world’s most powerful footballing characters in the world- which is a manifestation of several clubs being interested in the 20-year-old whose release clause is just 75 million euros. More than anything, it looks like Watzke is playing mind games to keep him at bay.
Although Haaland may be young, he has taken European football’s biggest tournament, the Champions League, by a storm and his numbers speak for themselves. Real Madrid and the striker in particular should decide for themselves, but if statistics are any marker to go by, Haaland is more than ready to take up any potential challenge that comes his way.
