Isco is another one of the underperforming Real Madrid players and his work-rate has been questioned more than anything. The Spaniard is anything from a prime version of himself and looks lazy on the field, slowing counter-attacking opportunities and making incomplete passes which is a bit frustrating on the eye.

To be fair on Isco, he has had little consistency to grab a good run of form because Federico Valverde, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have been too good to be benched whenever played. The attacking midfield trio has played very often this season though which could open the door to Isco for wholesale minutes in the Copa del Rey.

If minutes are anything to go by, he ranks higher than Martin Odegaard in the pecking order and continues to have greater prominence under Zinedine Zidane. The opportunities will be there for the taking and Zidane’s most trustworthy player from the Champions League threepeat could have a big chance to turn a corner.
