Zinedine Zidane has been unfair with his treatment towards several Real Madrid players while being partial with Eden Hazard.

Real Madrid has been knocked out from the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao and all the blame has been directed towards Zinedine Zidane once again. It was the same story all over again, as Bilbao played a low-block which neutralised all attacking threats. The low-block defensive set up by oppositions has been a dilemma for Zidane on how to break through the lines.

In the post-match press conference, Zidane was asked about Eden Hazard’s performance against Bilbao. To which he replied :

"“What happens to Eden is that he has to regain confidence, play a good game, score a goal… something different, but little by little. We know the player he is and you have to be patient. It is done”."

The question is how much longer are fans going to wait for Eden Hazard to do anything special? The former Chelsea man has not yet managed to find his old form but continues to have the support of Zinedine Zidane.

Meanwhile, the other younger talents such as Vinicius Jr, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, and Martin Odegaard face a completely different ball-game. These talented players get a handful of minutes on rare occasions and are expected to pull off the unthinkable to receive more game-time in the future.

On the flip-side, Eden Hazard continues to struggle with every passing game and is yet the first choice when fit.

It is high time for Zinedine Zidane to make use of Vinicius Jr in a few matches ahead of Hazard. The Brazilian may not be clinical in front of goal but his explosiveness and ability to penetrate the backline is quite useful. The biased treatment towards the younger players needs to come to an end.

Other players such as Martin Odegaard and Federico Valverde also require more game-time. Zidane has decided to stick with his core members but that is an unsustainable tactic to last for an entire season. Factors such as injuries, suspensions, fluctuating levels of form must be taken into consideration which is why it is important to have the members of the B team ready when called upon.
