Real Madrid loanee Luka Jović scores two goals off the bench in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 3-1 win over Schalke 04.

Luka Jović was back to what means business to him – scoring goals – and it was just the perfect ‘return’ for the Serbian international to his former team Eintracht Frankfurt. It’s ironic how the player needed just one appearance, that too off the bench, to equal his Real Madrid tally of two goals. I’ll leave it up to you to come to a verdict for Jović’s Real Madrid stint, but one thing is for sure, and that is that the 23-year-old is born to be a fearsome goalscorer.

He came on in the 62nd minute, with the match evenly poised at 1-1. In the 72nd minute, he timed his run to perfection, without overcommitting, to clobber a right-footed volley past the Schalke keeper. It was a perfect cross from Filip Kostić from the left-wing.

After that goal, Jović did have some good passing sequences. If it’s not known to you already, let me put this out in front of you. Jović is a great passer of the ball, and it doesn’t hinder his ability even one bit when he is facing pressure from the opposition players.

In presence of André Silva, Jović operated like a second striker. He would drop deep to make himself available as an outlet, and he wasn’t highest up the pitch for Frankfurt for a majority of his 32-minute cameo. He played between the lines and linked well at times, although he didn’t get much involved in the build-up.

He sealed the game with a fine finish in the 91st minute, receiving the ball outside the box, once again fed by Kostić. It was a brilliant run (his off the ball movement was amazing throughout), managing to cut inside his defender and send the ball into the back of the net for his second of the night.

Next. Is it time to loan Vinicius Junior?. dark

It was a night to remember for the striker as he was back where he felt the confidence of the coach and his teammates. This performance will set Jović up for the rest of the season nicely, and let’s hope he can continue in the same vein and return to Real Madrid as a player brimming with confidence.
