Real Madrid are set to have their final throw of the die with Sergio Ramos, whose contract ends in less than six months from present.
Real Madrid are still deadlocked with Sergio Ramos over a potential contract renewal. The Whites remain extremely keen on keeping the captain the bay, but his demands are not aligning with what the club is ready to provide. While the central defender wants a two-year contract and same salary as present, the club offers only a year and a 10% wage reduction.
ABC claims that the club is set to have a fresh dialogue with the player personally in what is likely to be their final attempt into making a breakthrough. Florentino Perez and Sergio Ramos are expected to go face-to-face in the next few days. The duo has not personally met yet and negotiations were only undertaken by the club’s managing, Jose Angel Sanchez and the player’s agent, Rene Ramos.
Perez remains aware of the fact that Ramos is keen on staying at the Santiago Bernabeu and also dreams about captaining the side in the new stadium that is currently under construction. Having said that, Ramos has also delivered on the pitch consistently for Real Madrid despite being nearly 35 and Los Blancos don’t want to disregard his contribution.
While the club has made an offer already, the economic terms are not what are causing trouble but the personal divergence between the agent and managing director. Ramos and Perez though a very close relationship, which is why the president is keen on instigating a personal dialogue. In spite of interest from foreign clubs, both parties remain equally keen on extending the ongoing association.
Florentino Perez’s personal dialogue with Sergio Ramos is most likely going to make or break the captain’s future at the club beyond his current deal. Even though Madrid rarely bends its back towards a player, the performances put in by Ramos may convince them to do so on a one-off occasion. Only time will tell whether his contract is extended.
