Real Madrid CM Luka Modric

We begin with Croatian center midfielder Luka Modric, who is the definition of a club legend. Modric is the best midfielder of his generation and one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of boots. He has reminded football fans of his greatness in the 2020-2021 season, standing out as the best player on Real Madrid, though Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos have been worth honorable mentions.

Real are not the same team when Modric is off the pitch. He is their attacking muse and still one of the best all-around midfielders in the game. Few can beat their man like Modric, whose passes into the penalty area are vital to Real’s chance-creation.

Los Blancos need Modric to lift them to wins in the upcoming La Liga fixtures, which are against the profiles of opponents that tend to give Real major issues.

According to WhoScored.com, Modric is averaging 1.6 dribbles completed per game and 1.3 key passes per game for Los Blancos this season, making him the only player who is in the top three in both categories. He’s completed nearly 90 percent of his passes, too, yet he has a lone assist in La Liga to show for his efforts.

Modric needs more from his teammates, but he is the man Madridistas can count on above the rest. It is remarkable how Modric is still one of the world’s top three center midfielders.
