FW Rodrygo Goes

For my money, there is not a single player on Real Madrid with more potential than Rodrygo Goes. He is a special, special player, and his fairytale of a goal upon his debut against Osasuna is surely a sign of the wonderful career he is about to embark on at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Prior to suffering a significant injury, Rodrygo was establishing himself as a regular starter for Real Madrid. He had three key passes in 38 minutes, per WhoScored.com, before being forced off the pitch against Granada, and he was excellent in the previous match with an assist and three dribbles completed at Eibar. Rodrygo remains Real’s leader with five assists in all competitions, tied with Karim Benzema.

Rodrygo is only 20 and in his second year in Madrid, but he is wise beyond his years on the pitch. Whereas so many other Real Madrid forwards have gone through serious growing pains, including Vinicius Junior and Luka Jovic, Rodrygo has been productive. And he’s been productive as either a left or right winger, fulfilling any role required. I even wonder if he could be a No. 9 in a pinch.

There is no doubt that a player as intelligent, technically gifted, productive, versatile, and level-headed as Rodrygo will be a star. He has all the physical and mental tools to be a Galactico-type player for Los Merengues over the next decade, and I already miss watching him in the lineup.
