Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz has been shining in Milan on loan, and Madridistas are wondering if he could be a piece to the puzzle in the 2021-2022 season in lieu of a major transfer up top. But there’s a chance Brahim ends up in Milan permanently.

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, via AS.com, (transcribed in Spanish), Milan are looking at three options to keep Brahim with the Rossoneri for at least one more year.

They may ask for another year of Brahim on loan. But they may also try to buy-out Brahim’s contract for 25 million euros or even ask Real Madrid to negotiate a lower price for them.

This is the first time we have heard of a purchase option in Brahim’s loan deal, because it seemed like Los Blancos had avoided giving Milan a chance at buying out the talented young wide forward. Apparently, that’s not the case. Silly season, right?

Real Madrid already got burned by selling Theo Hernandez to Milan

Selling Brahim for less than 25 million euros would be a disaster for Real Madrid. Even selling him for 25 million euros would be a questionable decision, as Brahim has outplayed several of Real’s wide forwards in 2020-2021. Furthermore, Real already got burned by selling Theo Hernandez for less than his worth to Milan, and Hernandez is now one of the best attacking fullbacks in European football. Meanwhile, Marcelo has declined sharply this season.

Real Madrid may be tempted to sell Brahim in order to make a full push to obtain Kylian Mbappe this summer, as this may be their only chance to sign the PSG superstar. But in an economic crisis, it would take a lot of sales for Real to acquire him. The undertaking may not be worth it now.

As for Brahim, the 21-year-old has scored four goals with two assists in all competitions for Milan, though he has also created a couple of goals by drawing penalties with his dribbling. He has looked sharp in front of goal and as a passer, and the two-footed forward has earned plaudits in Milan for his pressing and work rate. Real Madrid could use all of those characteristics.
