CB Raphael Varane

Sergio Ramos should be ready to return after missing multiple weeks, and the timing couldn’t be any better for Real Madrid with Eder Militao on a red card after last weekend’s disaster against Levante. Either way, I still have my eye on Raphael Varane the most between the two center backs.

Varane received criticism earlier this season, but he needs to get more praise for his tireless work at the back. There have been so many times this season when he is the one man trying to block shots and get in front of defenders who spring up through on goal. He’s done the job of two center backs at once in some matches, including, of course, last week against Levante. Rafa Mir could give Real problems, but I have a feeling Varane will make a statement on Saturday afternoon by shutting down the promising attacker.

CF Karim Benzema

On the rare occasion Karim Benzema struggles up top, the Real Madrid ship sinks with him. That was the case last week against Levante, as Benzema struggled so much that Zinedine Zidane actually decided to pull him for Mariano Diaz in the final 10 minutes. He rarely takes out Benz even when the French superstar isn’t at his best, because Benzema is still the most likely man to find the back of the net in the end.

The No. 9 has scored some clutch goals this season, and he was at the double in the previous match against Huesca. Dimitrios Siovas and the Huesca defense will do everything to make this star man’s life miserable on Saturday, but I have a feeling Benzema will come up in the clutch again if his team needs him to.
