Real Madrid completes a comeback to win 1-2 against Huesca with two goals from Raphael Varane in the second half. Los Blancos struggled to create a clear opportunity in the first half and failed to take any chances that came their way.

Huesca punished their opponent in the second half with a well-executed counter and a banging strike by Javi Galan, giving the hosts the lead in the 48th minute. However, their lead did not last long as Varane capitalized on Karim Benzema’s excellent freekick to score his first goal this season. The Frech World Cup winner was at the right place at the right time once again to slot home the winner following Casemiro’s header.

Here is how the Real Madrid players performed.

Courtois – 7.5/10

Courtois is one of the best, and he continues to prove his worth every single game. Huesca did not make him work much, but the Belgian once again came in vital to deny Frank Mir and keep the game alive at 1-1 for Real Madrid.

Alvaro Odriozola – 6/10

Odriozola has struggled to cement his spot in the team. He had a decent game but nothing special. The Spaniard did okay defensively with two tackles and one interception, but his offensive contribution was lacking. He attempted four crosses, and none of them met their intended target.

Raphael Varane – 9.5/10

Raphael Varane channeled his inner Sergio Ramos against Huesca. He was rock solid at the back and scored two clutch goals to give Real Madrid the win. Varane also completed five clearances and held the defense together.

Nacho – 6.5/10

Nacho did mostly well but got caught out of position for Huesca’s goal on the counter.

Ferland Mendy – 7/10

Mendy had several powerful forward runs, completing four of his four dribbles. He was also positionally good and won six out of seven ground duels, per Sofascore.com.

Casemiro – 8.5/10

Casemiro had a monster game. He won six aerial duels, five clearances, and four tackles, per Whoscored.com. He also contributed with two key passes, including winning the ball for Varane’s winner.

Luka Modric – 6.5/10

Modric did not have his best game, but he still showed his quality with several neat flicks and combination passes around the box. He also completed three dribbles.

Toni Kroos – 9/10

Toni Kroos continued his top form with another fantastic performance. He was the only standout player in the first half and helped Real Madrid dictate the match. The German World Cup winner completed 118 touches with 96 percent pass accuracy. He was unfortunate not to find himself on the assist list with his game-high six key passes.

Marco Asensio – 6.5/10

Asensio slowly looks like he is finding some match rhythm with the continuity he has been getting. He looked good in patches but still needs to have a bigger impact in the final third with Eden Hazard on the sidelines.

Vinicius Junior – 6.5/10

Vinicius looked exciting and did not shy away from taking on players. He completed three dribbles, two of them into the box but failed to execute the final ball.

Karim Benzema – 6.5/10

Karim Benzema once again struggled to get involved in the first half. He only had 17 touches, less than 22 of Courtois, in the first 45 minutes. The Frenchman stepped up his game in the second half and got involved in some brilliant sequences with his teammates. He also took an excellent freekick that hit the crossbar, followed by Varane’s equalizer.

Substitutions

Marcelo – 6.5/10

Marcelo added a bit of energy into the final third. He completed two dribbles and almost scored with his right foot minutes after entering the match.
