Real Madrid were without several key players against Getafe, including the suspended midfielder Toni Kroos, but the backups more than stepped up to the plate. Los Blancos took all three points at home over Jose Bordalas’ side, winning 2-0 in what can only be described as a thoroughly professional display.

Here are three takeaways from Los Blancos’ win.

Vinicius Junior has another strong performance

Vinicius Junior was highlighted as a player who would need to step up for Real Madrid in light of Eden Hazard’s latest injury. The 20-year-old Brazilian was up to the task in the win over Huesca this weekend, drawing fouls and beating defenders with confidence again.

Although he had some miscommunications with Karim Benzema in the first half of the Getafe game, he was just as lively on the ball and did well to support the team on the left-hand side of a 3-4-3. Without Toni Kroos, Vini stepped up as an outlet for his teammates on that side of the pitch.

Better yet, Vini had his finest cross of the season, assisting Karim Benzema for Real’s opening goal with a pinpoint cross. It is great to see the young winger back in good form, because he is so important to Los Merengues’ success.
