Real Madrid Femenino are amidst their first campaign under the Real Madrid name, and they have exceeded expectations with a new-look squad that features several young players who have taken a major step forward in their first season with Las Blancas.

With 17 matches played in Liga Iberdrola, let’s take a look at three bold predictions for Real Madrid before the 2020-2021 campaign ends.

Chioma Ubogagu will play a big role for Real Madrid down the stretch

This definitely qualifies as a bold prediction, because we have not seen Chioma Ubogagu in the squad for Real Madrid in the past several weeks. In total, she has played fewer than 200 minutes in the 2020-2021 league campaign across eight appearances.

Ubogagu was one of the three Galactica signings in CD Tacon’s final season before the official transition to being Real Madrid. Whereas Sofia Jakobsson and Kosovare Asllani have been superstars for Las Blancas in 2020-2021, Ubogagu has been an afterthought.

But I still have hope that manager David Aznar and the club can get the most out of the former Orlando Pride standout. Ubogagu is too talented to not be a key player at some point for the team, though it is tough to break through with breakout star Marta Cardona and the incomparable Jakobsson on either flank.

Still, I think Ubogagu will prove to be an X-Factor. You never know when a player of her quality can swing the balance of a game or season, especially a grueling league campaign.
