Real Madrid Transfers: Could a rival set in motion Luka Jovic’s sale?

Real Madrid loaned Luka Jovic to Eintracht Frankfurt in the winter 2021 transfer window, in the hopes that the Serbian international would obtain the playing time he needs and receive a boost by returning the club he scored 27 goals for prior to joining Los Blancos.

Jovic had a dream debut off the substitute’s bench, scoring a brace for the club. Yet he has been unable to secure a single Bundesliga start. Jovic has three goals in five substitute appearances across 122 minutes, which is an excellent return in terms of efficiency.

Yet Jovic has not started, because Adi Hutter has no need to change what is working. Eintracht’s current system has been successful, as Andre Silva leads the way as the Bundesliga’s most prolific striker behind Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland. The Portuguese international has 17 goals in 19 starts this season, averaging a goal contribution per game.

According to a report from Republik, via Fernando S. Tavero of AS, Atletico Madrid have been impressed with Silva’s performances. As they should; he has been incredible.

Luka Jovic would be even more expendable to Real Madrid if they were to sign Erling Haaland from the Bundesliga

Atleti are reportedly considering a 30-40 million euro bid for the 25-year-old striker, who could replace the prolific Luis Suarez in the future as Joao Felix’s partner up top.

If Silva is sold this summer, then Eintracht would need a new striker. And that’s where Jovic, whom the club should have a great deal of faith in, comes in.

So if Atleti purchases Silva from Eintracht, the Eagles will have the funds to go after Jovic from Real Madrid. It is a domino effect started by Real’s rivals and ending in Jovic making a potentially triumphant return to the state of Hessen.

Real Madrid, for their part, may be willing to sell Jovic as well, depending on one more domino in the Bundesliga. And that is Haaland. He is one of Real’s top two transfer targets, alongside the even more coveted Kylian Mbappe. If Real cannot sign Mbappe and go for Haaland, they will have two world-class strikers in the Norwegian and the legendary Karim Benzema.

Jovic would have no place. And then Los Blancos would be even more willing to sell Jovic to Eintracht, where he would likely command a fee near or slightly above what they would recoup from a Silva sale to Atleti.

It’s quite interesting how it could all come together for Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Borussia Dortmund this summer.
