3. Modric, Benzema, and Courtois have been the players of the season

If you ask me about who have been Real Madrid’s best players this season, my answer would be Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, and Thibaut Courtois. These 3 players have been one of the most consistent players this season, and have been very committed both on and off the field.

Luka Modric has been going strong at the age of 35, and he’s reminding people why he is a Ballon d’Or winner and why he is one of the greatest midfielders of all time. Fede Valverde had the edge over Luka in 2019/20, but the Croatian worked hard enough to make his way back into Real Madrid’s starting XI, and he has been one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Karim Benzema has scored the most no. of goals for Real Madrid this season, and he keeps reminding us that he deserves a lot of respect for the way he has stepped up since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in 2018. He has 16 goals and 5 assists in all competitions this season, according to Whoscored, and he isn’t showing any signs of slowing down at the age of 33.

Thibaut Courtois has been nothing short of a match-winner this season. He has been making some fantastic saves week in week out, to keep Real Madrid in the game and the title race. He didn’t save goals only, but he has saved some crucial points for Real Madrid on the way. Looking at his current form, it isn’t an exaggeration to call him the best goalkeeper in Spain.

Coming to the disappointments of the season, they would definitely be Isco, Marco Asensio, and Alvaro Odriozola. Isco looks uninterested in football, Asensio isn’t ready to take up greater responsibility at the age of 25, and Odriozola has struggled to impress when he got a chance and struggled to maintain his fitness as well. Gotta see if these players can turn around their season.
