RW Kylian Mbappe

Yes, Kylian Mbappe is a generational talent. The PSG superstar is coming off a hat trick at the Camp Nou, and he is already a former World Cup winner and Champions League finalist. Mbappe himself is a well-rounded forward, even if he is not quite up to the level of an Eden Hazard or Karim Benzema creatively. But that is for two reasons. One, he is only 22. He is still developing. Two, he is a better scorer than both men have ever been, even at that young age.

In 2018-2019, Mbappe scored 33 goals with seven assists in Ligue 1. 40 goal contributions. This season, Mbappe has 16 goals and six assists in the league with five goals and three assists in the Champions League.

Mbappe is ideally a left-sided forward, but he is world-class at any of the three positions. We have seen him own competitions at any of these three positions in a 4-3-3. He has a good enough weak-foot and the speed and shooting accuracy to score sufficiently as a right-sided right forward.

But at Real Madrid, a front three of Mbappe, Hazard, and Benzema would be so fluid that Mbappe would get chances to cut inside and score or move more towards the middle, taking advantage of natural overloads created by Hazard and the left-drifting Benz.

Mbappe is a perfect fit for Real. Haaland is easier to acquire, but Mbappe is Perez’s guy. He knows the talent Mbappe possesses and the benefit of having an elite-scoring wide forward. Perez will go all-in for Mbappe, and I would not doubt the club president’s ability to land him.
