2. Real Madrid CM Toni Kroos

There are so many options here. Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Thibaut Courtois all have incredibly compelling cases, and I have actually picked Modric out as the best of the best for Real Madrid for the longest time.

But I am going to switch over to Kroos. His most recent performances have been jaw-dropping. Kroos has been controlling games all season long for Real Madrid, but, lately, he has been untouchable and creating chance after chance. He is among the league’s leaders in defensive pressures, and his performance against Real Valladolid – four key passes and four tackles – sums up what he’s all about. Kroos is working hard for the team, coming up with solutions on the ball, and covering up a lot of issues. You can only imagine how many assists he’d have with more clinical wide forwards getting on the end of his chances.

1. Atletico Madrid GK Jan Oblak

There are so many Atletico Madrid players worth praising to the highest degree, as it has taken a team effort to get Los Rojiblancos into the league lead. Their grasp on the title is tenuous at best, especially since they must avenge an earlier loss to Real Madrid. But Diego Simeone’s side is very strong from top to bottom.

Defensively, they are elite, and while it has taken a team effort, goalkeeper Jan Oblak is the man to praise the most. He is the league leader in save percentage, goals allowed per 90 minutes, and clean sheets, though Thibaut Courtois is roaring back at him and has tied it up at 11.

Luis Suarez leads the league in goals with 16 and is vital to Atelti, but Oblak remains at the top of the class.
