Real Madrid have an electrifying fullback duo

I cannot think of a fullback duo I enjoy watching more than the tandem of Olga Carmona on the left-hand side and Kenti Robles on the right. Coming into the 2020-2021 season, Madridistas were over the moon about the team signing Robles from Atletico Madrid, as they convinced an ascending player to join from a historically successful rival.

Robles’ crosses have been excellent, and she is always eager to push up the pitch to help the attack. Both she and Carmona operate as attacking fullbacks for Las Blancas, and they are highly effective.

Carmona holds the distinction of being the first Real Madrid Femenino player to score a goal against Barcelona, as she cooly converted from the spot. She is one of the most technically adept players on the team and can put in a cross or even score herself. It says a lot that Carmona, just 20 years old, has 32 more minutes than proven national team player Marta Corredera.

Marta Cardona is the next great Real Madrid player

Marta Cardona is another new signing from the exciting 2020 class of summer signings to make this list of takeaways coming out of the February international break, because she has been astonishingly good for Las Blancas thus far.

The 25-year-old previously played for Levante and Real Sociedad before joining Real Madrid, and her career has taken off in her first season with the Royal White club. Cardona had three career goals in 37 appearances with La Real and zero in 27 matches with Levante.

But now, Cardona is breaking out with Real Madrid. She already has five goals in 17 appearances with Las Blancas, to go with four assists. She is so active, always willing to take on defenders, and has the quality in the final third to produce. Cardona has been just as much of a star as Jakobsson and Asllani in 2020-2021.
