Real Madrid were excellent in February despite facing a myriad of injuries. Instead of making any excuses about their circumstances, they went out there and got the job done. It wasn’t pretty in most cases, but Madridistas will never complain about their team racking up five wins in exactly five matches.

March will be a tough month for Los Blancos, though, especially with Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid as the first two opponents of the month. And the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 awaits them, too.

Here are five players who need to be at their best.

RW Marco Asensio

We begin with a man who has come under fire frequently over the past several weeks. Marco Asensio has scored just two goals in the 2020-2021 season despite being a regular starter on the right-hand side. Karim Benzema is the only full-time forward with more minutes than Asensio’s 1,240 in La Liga, yet the word “invisible” still applies to the Andalusian due to his recent displays.

Asensio has to top the list of Madrid players who need to improve in the near future. He was so instrumental to the team last summer and is the kind of player with the technical quality who can provide a game-changing play in an instant. When will Asensio step up and start taking more risks on the ball? When will he go for it? With big matches on the horizon and the title race heating up, March is the month to do it. His future is at stake this season, lest we forget.
