Real Madrid had a huge La Liga fixture on Monday night against Real Sociedad, and while they weren’t at their best in front of goal and had a rough patch in the second half, they came away with a point against the top-five side after a late goal from Vinicius Junior.

Here are the three takeaways from the 1-1 draw with La Real.

Isco as an amazing first half

While Isco had some bright moments in the first half against Atalanta, I wasn’t exactly enamored with his overall performance. But although he was subbed off early in the second half vs. Real Sociedad, I was thoroughly impressed with how Isco played in the first half of this match.

Isco deserved an assist and was unfortunate not to get one. He had four key passes in the first half, and WhoScored.com also credited the Andalusian with two dribbles completed.

He had some clever touches and passes both on counterattacks and in the final third. Isco was the brightest star of the first half for Real Madrid, and he has a role to play this season if he can keep this up. We saw a display from Isco mirroring what he produced in the second half of the last season, when he emerged from the bench as a key contributor.
