As the month of February comes to a close and Real Madrid prepare for their home fixture against Real Sociedad on La Liga’s Matchday 25, it’s time to take a look back at the major events of the most recent month of action.

In total, Los Blancos played in five matches – four in the league and one in the Champions League – and they won all of them. Real recorded a clean sheet in four of those five matches, as the defense did not miss a beat despite key injuries to captain Sergio Ramos and stellar right back Dani Carvajal. Previously, Real had been a disaster without them, but Nacho Fernandez and Raphael Varane stepped up in the middle of the defense.

Real Madrid had serious issues up front, but they were able to find the goals they needed thanks to key players stepping up, particularly in midfield. But of course, Real’s world-class midfield trio has been at the heart of their best successes throughout the 2020-2021 season.

That’s a general overview of what happened, but let’s take a deeper look at five specific takeaways from February before Monday night’s match at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano against Champions League hopefuls Real Sociedad.
