Haaland’s signing is more viable economically

Erling Haaland’s transfer clause would be active from June 2020 at nearly a 75 million euros mark, per cbsports.com, although the contract originally dates up to 2024. The club therefore would probably be looking at bids around 100 million euros for the striker. The whole move would probably cost around 130-150 million euros for Los Blancos in situations like the interest of other big clubs, the involvement of Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola, the player’s salary, and other commissions.

While compared to Real’s other striker in vision, Kylian Mbappe, Haaland seems to be an easier and cheaper option. The point to be noted here is that Haaland would also be an easier deal to acquire for other clubs like Chelsea or Manchester City who have been eyeing him. But, with Zidane’s praises, it is possible that Florentino Perez may pull few strings to finalize the move.

Moreover, Kylian Mbappe has reportedly been in talks with his club, PSG for a likely renewal of his contract and an increase in per year’s salary. This means, upon a move, Kylian would be looking at similar financial increments and that makes him a tough signing, given the post-pandemic financial situation the Royal Whites are in.

There is no point comparing the two- Mbappe and Haaland. Both are fantastic forwards, goal scorers and both of them have awed the world football community with their skills. But, when the question comes to who is economically more viable, the benefit clearly goes to Haaland. Moreover, Real already have considerable young energy on the wings unless they are willing to let go of few young players on loans or otherwise. Ergo, an investment in a pure CF striker seems to be of more sense.
