Dortmund

I was tempted to put West Ham on this list, but Luka Jovic reportedly rejected a loan move there. From his perspective, it wouldn’t make much sense to go to a club that didn’t know how to use his former teammate Sebastien Haller. It’s pretty telling that Haller has quickly found a move to a better-run club in Ajax, who usually do not spend on established players.

Jovic would do well to ignore any interest they may have. I think Dortmund could be an interesting curveball for Jovic. Like with Andre Silva, there could be a ripple effect from Erling Haaland’s sale. Youssoufa Moukoko seems ready to immediately succeed Haaland, but I don’t know if it’s a good idea to thrust so much responsibility onto a 16-year-old striker. The 22-year-old Steffen Tigges is also a huge talent, but he may not be ready either.

If Real Madrid find it hard to afford a 150 million euro transfer for Haaland straight-up, they can offer Jovic to the Black and Yellows. A loan deal with an option to buy could work if Dortmund don’t want to commit to purchasing Jovic in case Moukouko and Tigges are further along than expected. And Jovic can act as insurance in case they aren’t.

Next. Why Real Madrid should sign Erling Haaland. dark

It won’t be an easy deal to work out depending on Dortmund’s thoughts on their current young strikers, but Jovic could help Real Madrid reduce the cash fee necessary to sign Haaland while strengthening the relationship with BVB. And could you imagine how effective Jovic would be in a rapid-fire, free-flowing Dortmund attack? He might be the perfect fit for them schematically.
