Real Madrid have an eventful transfer window approaching this summer. They have been eyeing potential starters at the front like Kylian Mbappe of PSG and Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund. New signings will be the most impactful events to look out for but, also equally important would be the players the club decides to retain.

Several players have their contract expiration approaching at the end of 2020-21 or 2021-22 seasons. As such, it is again time for Zidane and Perez to make few strict decisions. Transfer rumors have been looming clouds over the club. Key players like Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane are becoming subjects of such rumors, making Madridistas frustrated worldwide.

Toni Kroos made a rather expected statement saying he would be looking to retire with Real Madrid if he could. The German who has now had more appearances than any other German player for the club seems like he would be a formality deal for Los Blancos.  And retaining him makes sense. He has been vital for Real Madrid this season, like any other.

However, things may not be as simple for few other players in question with financial woes and other clubs offering alluring paychecks. Since, Madrid is looking to freshen up the attack, signing extensions to key players in midfield and defense could be an effective way out. Here are three players who should top Zidane’s priority list to sign to extensions.
