Luka Modric

Real Madrid currently has one of the best midfield in Europe with Kroos-Modric-Casemiro starting most of the matches and young players like Valverde always present to fill in. Kroos has announced publically his intentions to stay longer at the club and Case’s contract extends up to 2023. As such, signing Luka Modric to an extension becomes vital. His contract expires at the end of 2020-21 season, per Transfermarkt.

Although, the deal looks to be a mere formality it can’t be ruled out that an absence of the Croatian wizard would disrupt Madrid’s midfield.  He has been one of the key playmakers for the side. He is equipped with unparalleled abilities on the ball. Finding players inside the box, making accurate passes during build-up plays, the midfield maestro is an absolute genius.

The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner was signed by Real Madrid in 2012 for 30 million euros. Since then, he has won the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup 4 times each, the LaLiga twice and the Copa Del Rey once with Los Blancos. He is a match-winner and his decorative record proves the same.

When talked of the current season alone, he has had a total of 33 appearances, starting 29 of them. He has found the net on 4 occasions and assisted thrice. He has been brilliant on the ball tallying an average of 1.2 key passes per match, per Whoscored.com. He is 35 at the moment yet going strong for Madrid and would probably end up retiring with Real Madrid alongside his partner Toni Kroos.
