Real Madrid scored a late goal three games in a row, this time through Karim Benzema, to win against Elche at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. Dani Calvo sent the visitors ahead with a towering header over Raphael Varane at the hour mark. Benzema equalized for Real Madrid 12 minutes later before smashing home the winner in the 91st minute.

Here is how the Real Madrid players performed.

Thibaut Courtois – 7.5/10

Courtois once again made a couple of brilliant saves to keep Real Madrid in the game. He was not at fault for Elche’s goal.

Lucas Vazquez – 7/10

Vazquez constantly ran up and down the pitch. He worked hard defensively, winning four tackles and two clearances.

Raphael Varane – 5/10

Varane was directly at fault for Elche’s goal. He failed to cover Dani Calvo, who towered over the Frenchman to score the opener.

Sergio Ramos – 5/10

Ramos looked rusty and devoid of fitness in his first game back. He had a couple of poor touches and giveaways.

Nacho Fernandez – 7.5/10

Nacho was on top form on the day. He looked strong defensively and made several burst forward to help Real Madrid in the attack.

Mendy had an underwhelming performance overall. He had several poor touches and giveaways, one led to the corner, which gave Elche the lead.

Casemiro – 8/10

Casemiro, as always, was a rock in the middle of the park. He won seven aerial duels, completed six clearances, and contributed with two key passes, per Whoscored.com.

Fede Valverde – 6/10

Valverde got his first start since his return from injury. He was unable to make much impact in the game.

Isco – 6/10

Isco needed some time to get his rhythm but ended the first half with positive involvement. He started the second half well and looked purposeful until being replaced by Modric.

Karim Benzema – 7.5/10

Benzema had an underwhelming first 75 minutes but stepped up his involvement when Real Madrid needed it. He scored a brace to give Los Blancos the win. The second goal was a magnificent strike with his weaker foot.

Vinicius Junior – 7/10

Vinicius was the most dangerous player for Real until he got replaced in the second half. He was the only player making runs behind the defenders and creating problems for the defense.

Substitutions

Luka Modric – 7.5/10

Modric entered the game with Real chasing and immediately sparked some creativity into the game. He created the chance for Benzema’s first goal and helped Real Madrid comeback to win the game.

Toni Kroos – 6.5/10

Kroos brought some much-needed control to Madrid’s midfield and allowed the team to command the game better. He completed 45 passes with 98 percent accuracy in just 30 minutes.

Rodrygo – 7.5/10

Rodrygo provided a dynamic attacking outlet from the right. He served a beautiful ball into the box, but Casemiro failed to connect. He was involved in the one-two with Benzema for the winner.
