Zidane loves a recovery job

If we take a look back at last season’s story, Zinedine Zidane returned in times of trouble. Los Blancos were eliminated from the Copa del Rey at home by Barcelona. A league defeat to the same opposition opened a 12 point difference between the clubs. Even in the Champions League, they went 4-1 down to Ajax bringing curtains on the competition.

Then came Zidane and the rest is history. He returned on a contract until summer 2022. On July 16, 2020, Los Blancos lifted the league trophy. There were no huge and fancy wins but only clean, tactical football. Matches were won at a single goal’s differences and Zidane’s players didn’t disappoint. They found that one crucial goal that saw them through.

The story of the last few matches has been similar. Los Blancos have been rescuing games in the dying minutes. Better, the last matchday they won within injury time finding that all-important finish. So, is the club on another comeback?

At the moment all Real Madrid can do is play good football and win matches. With them breathing down the necks of Atleti and Barca, it is obvious for the two clubs to go under pressure. And we know what pressure does to you. Real bagged all three points on the same day Atleti dropped a couple.

No one knows how the title race will turn out but at this point, all we can do as Madridistas is be hopeful. And isn’t all of the human wisdom summed up in wait and hope?
