ST Luka Jovic

Luka Jovic is in such a tough spot, and you cannot help but feel bad for a talented young striker who scored nearly 30 goals in the 2018-2019 season, only to effectively lose two years of his career because Real Madrid bought him without a real plan. I mean, if that’s not the case, can anyone explain to me what Real intended to do when they bought Jovic? Because if the idea was to start him and Karim Benzema together, that literally only happened a couple of times.

On the pitch, Jovic played decently well for Real Madrid, but he didn’t blow anyone away enough to convince Zinedine Zidane to change his scheme or, even more unlikely, start him over Karim Benzema a few times. It seems like Zidane even preferred Borja Mayoral, who has potentially vindicated the manager with his play with Roma.

If Real Madrid want to sign Erling Haaland this summer, there is no place for Jovic. What is he going to be, their third striker? Even if they move to a two-striker system, there’s no point in Jovic sticking around, wasting more years of his career on the bench.

Jovic is a great player. I wouldn’t be mad if Real went after a non-striker to boost their attack and showed faith in Jovic. But over the past several months, I’m starting to wonder if Los Blancos have any intention of starting Jovic for another minute. It seems like they want to move on, and, thus, he could be sold this summer.
