Real Madrid vs. Real Betis, Apr. 25

It’s amazing how much things have changed from earlier this season. When Real Madrid last faced Real Betis, we were in late September on Matchday 2. Both sides brought out the fireworks, with Los Blancos just edging out Los Verdiblancos 3-2 at the Benito Villamarin after Sergio Ramos sunk an 82nd-minute penalty. Credit to Luka Jovic for giving Madrid an advantage, as he drew a red card on Betis right back Emerson.

Funny how now, two starters from that game for Real Madrid, Martin Odegaard and Jovic, are now at Arsenal and Eintracht Frankfurt, respectively. As I said, so much has changed.

But what hasn’t changed is that for Madrid, Betis is a dangerous team. They have some very talented attacking players, namely Nabil Fekir and Sergio Canales. They have taken points off Los Blancos before, and I believe they will do so again. Look for another high-scoring matchup between these two sides.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2, Real Betis 2

Getafe vs. Real Madrid, Apr. 28

The final match of the month will be against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Getafe were candidates for the Europa League last season, but they just fell short in the end. In 2020-2021, they have been one of La Liga’s most disappointing teams and are currently fighting in 14th place, just one spot ahead of newcomers Cadiz.

Real Madrid took care of Getafe without an ideal starting XI and an experimental back three earlier this season, dominating them in a 2-0 win. While Getafe will be a tougher nut to crack at home, I believe Los Blancos will also have little trouble with them. Getafe’s best attacking player is Madrid loanee Takefusa Kubo, but he’s not a regular starter for them. The entire Getafe attack is lackluster, and they will not pose much threat to Los Merengues next month.

Prediction: Getafe 0, Real Madrid 1
