Welcome to the Kylian Mbappe Zone, where we Madridistas desperate for his signing are continually monitoring all updates regarding the PSG superstar. Real Madrid‘s current economic situation makes it extremely difficult for them to afford Mbappe, but where there is a will, there is a way. Or, at least, that will be Florentino Perez’s selling point after a third straight season with a dried-up goal account from the wide forwards.

Mbappe and Erling Haaland are the two dream targets for Real Madrid this summer, and then there is the Cristiano Ronaldo option, which, for many, is the nostalgia option. But the top target has always been Mbappe.

Before we can even begin to contemplate Mbappe’s affordability, we have to wait and see what happens with the renewal talks between the forward and his current club. PSG have placed a lucrative offer on the table for quite some time, yet Mbappe still has not bitten.

Apparently they gave him a deadline, but that reported date has come to pass with no movement. So either the report was made up, or PSG tried to put him under pressure and he called their bluff.

Real Madrid need Kylian Mbappe to keep declining PSG in order to have a chance

According to the latest report from MARCA’s Jose Felix Diaz, who is one of the most plugged-in Real Madrid reporters you’ll find, Kylian Mbappe’s renewal discussions with PSG have not been going “especially well” lately.

Therefore, Jose Felix Diaz writes that PSG are getting into a situation where they may be obligated to sell as opposed to let him go for free in 2022, which was “threatened” in the past.

In all, this nugget of information from MARCA is a positive for Madridistas. The first barrier – among the many – to signing the talented 22-year-old is the PSG factor. If Mbappe re-signs, he is off the table. If Mbappe continues to say no to the Ligue 1 giants, then he remains a valid option for Real Madrid.

Then, it gets more difficult when we talk about wages, transfer fees, and maybe even the competition. But the big key is Mbappe has to leave the door open for Real. PSG have the money, the familiarity of being his home, and the benefit of being seen as the more competitive Champions League side right now. Real, though, have their own benefits, but they cannot sell those points to Mbappe unless he declines PSG’s pitch.
