Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard is having an excellent half-season with Arsenal thus far. And that’s great. That’s exactly what Los Blancos hoped for when they allowed the Norwegian to go out on loan this winter. They wanted him to get minutes, gain confidence, and reacquire his form from 2019-2020.

But now there is a new worry about Odegaard. His future with the team for the 2021-2022 season. A permanent transfer from Madrid is unthinkable but not necessarily impossible. Odegaard could choose to stay with the Arsenal project led by Mikel Arteta, at least for the next season. He is the team’s best player, by far, and he seems to be enjoying his football in North London.

Real Madrid would be incredibly foolish to sell Odegaard, of course. And they are not fools by any stretch – no matter what MessiFan420 says – so therefore he is not for sale. The loan question? It is a valid one, though, because Odegaard could see Arsenal as the better place for him next season while Luka Modric remains the class of the world at his right-sided midfield position.

Los Blancos should keep Odegaard in their plans for next season, though. Here are three reasons why the 22-year-old should be considered vital to the Merengue club’s plans for 2021-2022.
