4. Dani Carvajal

Dani Carvajal is a product of the Real Madrid Academy. He spent a year on loan at Bayer Leverkusen before playing for Los Blancos senior team in 2013. Carvajal has established himself as one of the best Right-backs in the world right now despite being overshadowed by the presence of big names like Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, and Raphael Varane alongside him in the defense.

Dani Carvajal was sidelined very early in his Real Madrid career due to a long-running injury problem that made him miss a lot of action. It, therefore, took a long time before he could launch himself as a reliable presence in the defense. The story has been similar for him this season, he hasn’t featured on the pitch since their home game against Valencia on the 14th of February. He left the pitch at 25 minutes after picking up a muscle injury in his right thigh.

Carvajal’s issue had been with his luck. Early on in his career, he couldn’t reach his prime being overshadowed by big names. Now, that he has become an important defender for Real Madrid, he is shuttered with injuries. Nacho has grabbed all accolades in his absence and has become a much more crucial contributor to this season’s campaign.

Dani is an important player yet his contributions often go unacknowledged. Even in this season, which has been fairly short for him, he has maintained a decent enough record with 2 vital assists, a passing accuracy of over 85%, and several crucial defensive interventions, per Whoscored.
