Cut ties with Alvaro Odriozola, Mariano Diaz

Gareth Bale is the main priority to sell this summer, and even if they have to offload his wages on a free transfer, they must do it. But after that, there are a few more players who should leave. At the top of the list are Mariano Diaz and Alvaro Odriozola, with the former being the biggest priority sale between the two.

Mariano and Odriozola have been part of Real’s worst performances in 2020-2021. Odriozola has fallen so far that Lucas Vazquez is preferred to him at right back. Meanwhile, Mariano is the worst player on the team. He is one of the most inept attacking players we have seen in a Real Madrid jersey. Since an early headed goal against Villarreal, he has done nothing.

There was once hope for Mariano, but he squandered any goodwill he gained from his Clasico goal and his Villarreal header by producing disasterclass after disasterclass. Real Madrid had no choice but to play him due to Karim Benzema’s injury and either Luka Jovic’s injury or winter loan.

Real need a better backup striker than Mariano. He was supposed to leave this past summer, but he would not accept a reduction of wages to move to Benfica. Mariano must see the light and realize that he can succeed somewhere else, but he will never be at the level necessary to truly fight for a place at Real Madrid. It is the harsh truth.
