3. Memphis Depay

When it comes to transfers, Olympique Lyonnais’s Memphis Depay has always been a hot topic. It looks like the Dutchman is linked to FC Barcelona. The Catalans tried for a move in January but failed. And, it just might be a good idea to add to their difficulties this time as well.

Leaving the Barcelona angle aside, Depay can be a great addition to Real Madrid’s squad. With his abilities on the left, he could be started alongside Benzema. He has already scored 15 goals for the club this season in all competitions. He can play CF and as an attacking midfielder and yet be successful. He is 27 at the moment and is in the middle of his prime.

This means Depay wouldn’t be a player that Real may bring in as a youngster but he is someone who can fit right into the attack. He can be a quick fix to Real’s problems upfront with a handy foreseeable future with the club. He would be a free transfer with his contract expiring in 2021, and nothing could be better for the Royal Whites with the recent financial woes.

When it comes to Lyon, Real already has a history of good deals in Karim Benzema. Possibly one of the smartest buys Real Madrid has ever made. Who is to say that Memphis couldn’t turn out the same way? Further, getting a player who was interested in a Barcelona move can make the whole deal even sweeter for Los Blancos.
