Real Madrid will return to the pitch this Saturday at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano when they take on Eibar, who are currently 18th in the table. Conventional wisdom states that a match against a relegation side should be easier, but, for Real Madrid, that rarely has been the case this season. These relegation candidate sides will be fighting just as hard as Real at this point of the season, too, given that every point counts in the fight to stay alive.

Let’s take a look at five players who must shine for Los Merengues this weekend, using MARCA’s probable lineups to guide our selections.

CB Nacho Fernandez

Sergio Ramos is out with another injury, as he was probably pushed too hard over the past week in international duty with Spain. Ramos had only just recovered from a knee injury that required surgery and took him out for nearly two months.

So Nacho Fernandez will resume his role as a starter next to Raphael Varane. He was excellent in Ramos’ place for much of January and all of February, playing at least as well as Varane, who is regarded as one of the world’s best central defenders.

We can expect another strong performance from Nacho, whether in a back four or back three. He has been composed and competent in defense this season, hence why he should be getting an extension.
