Real Madrid made a winning return to La Liga following the International Break with a 2-0 win against Eibar at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. Zinedine Zidane said his team was facing 15 finals in the closing stage of the season. The team responded accordingly and came out with a winning attitude. Goals from Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema on either side of the half gave Real Madrid a comfortable win against their Basque opponents.

Here is how the Real Madrid players performed.

Thibaut Courtois – 7.5/10

Courtois finally got a well-deserved clean sheet after five matches. He was dependable as usual between the sticks. The Belgian had a nervy moment when he misread the back pass but did well to keep the ball out.

Lucas Vazquez – 7.5/10

Lucas Vazquez is an engine on the right for Real Madrid, and his motor never stops. He tracked back well and gave a tough fight to Bryan Gil in defense while also bombing forward and providing three key assists.

Eder Militao – 8/10

Militao had a strong performance against Eibar. He dealt with everything that came his way. He won a game-high eight duels along with six clearances and four interceptions, per Sofascore.com.

Nacho Fernandez – 8/10

Nacho got tasked to lead the backline in the absence of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, and he did it in style. Eibar barely threatened Real Madrid’s goal and Nacho was one of the main reasons behind it. The Cantera defender had seven clearances, won five aerial duels, and four interceptions in the match.

Ferland Mendy – 8/10

What makes Mendy such a good defender is that he does the basics right. He does well to track his markers and close down passing lanes forcing opponents to find alternatives. He also completed three clearances and two interceptions.

Marcelo – 6.5/10

Marcelo looked lively in the first 30 minutes but fizzled out as the game went on.

Casemiro – 8/10

Casemiro was a monster on the field. He won four aerial duels, had four clearances, three interceptions, and two tackles, per Whoscored.com. He also assisted on Asensio’s goal after brilliantly winning the ball back in the opposition half.

Luka Modric – 7.5/10

Modric makes everything look so easy. He helped Real Madrid get out of pressure and controlled the game. He completed ten of eleven long balls with a 93 percent pass completion.

Marco Asensio – 8/10

Asensio had one of his best performances of the season. He got denied by the crossbar and had a goal disallowed for offside. The Spaniard finally got his reward with a great touch to get past the defender and a calm finish to give Real Madrid the lead.

Isco – 7.5/10

Isco had a slow start to the game but found his rhythm as the game went on. He nutmegged three different players in the first half and helped progress the ball. He provided five key passes and completed three dribbles in the match.

Karim Benzema – 8/10

Benzema played a slightly unorthodox role in the frontline, where he was found on the right or the left, switching position with Asensio often. He looked comfortable in that role and found himself at the end of a few chances. The Frenchman scored in his seventh straight game to double Real Madrid’s lead in the 72nd minute.

Substitutions

Rodrygo – 6/10

Rodrygo came in for Asensio in the 60th minute but did not get involved much. He did manage to complete a key pass.

Toni Kroos – 6.5/10

Kroos only played 30 minutes but still completed 100 percent of his passes.

Sergio Arribas – 7/10

Arribas put on an energetic performance for the 20 odd minutes he was on the pitch. He started the move that allowed Vinicius to supply Benzema for Real Madrid’s second goal. He also contributed by tracking back and winning balls at his half.

Vinicius Junior – 7/10

Vinicius did not have many touches after coming in, but the few he did were threatening and effective. He assisted on Benzema’s goal to double Real Madrid’s lead.
