Real Madrid will take a two-goal advantage to Anfield following a commanding 3-1 win against Liverpool at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. Vinicius Junior gave Los Blancos the lead with a brilliantly taken goal, and Marco Asensio doubled the score in the first half. Mohamed Salah scored early in the second half to reduce the deficit before Vinicius reclaimed the two-goal lead for Real Madrid.

Here is how the Real Madrid players performed.

Thibaut Courtois – 7/10

Courtois did well with the ball on his feet and almost created a goal-scoring opportunity with a fantastic long pass to Vinicius. He dealt with all the crosses that came in his area with ease. There was not much he could have done on the Salah goal.

Lucas Vazquez – 7/10

Lucas Vazquez has been a dependable deputy for the right-back position in the absence of Dani Carvajal. He worked hard in defense, but he was unable to provide much threat in the final third.

Eder Militao – 8.5/10

Militao stepped up in the absence of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos with a monster performance. He helped his team keep Jurgen Klopp’s team at bay for the majority of the game. Militao completed five clearances, won four aerial duels, and had three interceptions, per whoscored.com.

More from The Real Champs

Nacho Fernandez – 8/10

Nacho continues to prove he is a top-tier defender and an invaluable asset to Real Madrid. He put in another fine performance for Los Blancos, and this time in one of the biggest stages of the game.

Ferland Mendy – 7.5/10

Mendy put on another solid display in the back. He was positionally spot on, and he kept Mohammad Salah and Trent Alexander Arnold in check of large stretches of the game. He also made a key interception to deny Sadio Mane a tap-in in the second half to help Real Madrid maintain their advantage.

Casemiro – 8/10

Casemiro was, as usual, a massive presence in the midfield for Real Madrid. He won eleven duels, eight tackles, and two interceptions, per Sofascore.com, to help mitigate any threats from Liverpool.

Luka Modric – 8/10

Luka Modric allowed his team to get out of press multiple times, and his partnership with Toni Kroos in the middle of the park helped Real Madrid to victory. He also provided the assist for Vinicius’ second goal.

Toni Kroos – 9/10

Toni Kroos was the mastermind behind the dominating first half and overall excellent performance by Real Madrid. His majestic vision and inch-perfect passing accuracy found Vinicius for the first goal. He had a 91 percent pass accuracy with nine out of nine long balls completed. He also provided four key passes in the match.

Marco Asensio – 7/10

Asensio did brilliantly take his goal from the Alexander Arnold mistake. He also tracked back often and helped his teammates out in defense. However, the former Mallorca player also missed out on two fantastic opportunities to extend Real Madrid’s lead.

Vinicius Junior – 9/10

Vinicius had an electrifying UCL performance. He threatened Liverpool’s backline from the beginning. The Brazillian got rewarded when Toni Kroos picked out his run, and Vinicius made no mistake with the finish. He also got a second goal from a Modric assist. He won five duels and completed two dribbles in the match.

Karim Benzema – 7/10

Benzema got into pockets of spaces to cause Liverpool’s backline problems, but he failed to capitalize on his chances. He had four shots, two on target, and a key pass in the match.
