For years, Real Madrid fans have been dreaming of one signing more than any other. Although Kylian Mbappe initially chose to stay in Ligue 1 and move to PSG after establishing himself as a star with Monaco, it’s also seemed like the 22-year-old dreams of Madrid, too. The fact that Zinedine Zidane manages Real certainly doesn’t hurt the Royal Whites’ case.

Mbappe is heading into the final year of his contract. If he does not re-sign with PSG before the summer transfer window, the Parisians could be forced to sell. Because there’s no justifiable way they can lose him for free, no matter how deep their pockets and strong their principles at the negotiating table.

To this point, Mbappe has reportedly rejected three renewal offers from PSG. His current club has been trying to tie him down to a lucrative extension for several months, yet Mbappe keeps resisting. And that’s led Madridistas to continue to hope for a marquee signing.

Better yet, there are bombshell reports stating that Mbappe has already told PSG he wants out. Cadena SER and Cuatro are the two major outlets reporting this.

A noted journalist essentially guaranteed Kylian Mbappe will move to Real Madrid this summer

But the most publicized report stating that Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid would happen this summer came from Josep Pedrerol. He is the most difficult to get a read on, because he reports so much sensational stuff on El Chiringuito. But he is also close to Florentino Perez and well-connected. A popular broadcaster, Pedrerol accurately predicted three of the biggest news items in the club’s recent history: Cristiano Ronaldo’s shock departure, Zinedine Zidane’s return, and the signing of Eden Hazard.

So when Pedrerol goes on television and makes such a strong statement that Real Madrid will sign Mbappe, “I consider it as done”, we have to take notice.

Of course, there are conflicting reports. Mohamed Bouhafsi is one of the most reliable reporters around, particularly for French news, and he says PSG have not been informed of any decision by Mbappe.

It’s possible both things are true, though. Perhaps Mbappe has told Real he is moving and has no intention of re-signing with PSG, but he has not told his current club so as to avoid any drama during the Champions League season. Thanks to his brace, of course, PSG own a 3-2 lead over defending champions Bayern Munich, with three away goals to boot.

Kylian Mbappe dropped an interesting hint after a win over Bayern

And speaking of his performance in the Champions League, Mbappe had a rather telling quote in the aftermath of the PSG victory. He said he would not announce his future, because he did not want to distract the team. This statement excited Madridistas. Why? Well, if Mbappe is staying, why would an announcement be a distraction? But if he is intent on leaving for a new project, an announcement from the team’s most productive player could ruin their campaign. And they are still fighting in Ligue 1 and are among the favorites for Europe’s premier prize.

There are a lot of reasons for Real Madrid fans to be optimistic. Mbappe continues to rebuff his club’s advances, and two notable reporters in Manu Carreño and Josep Pedrerol are saying that he will go to Madrid this summer.

But fans must remain cautious with their optimism. Mbappe will still be a difficult signing, especially in this pandemic. Even though Real will surely make more sales, Mbappe could still cost up to 150 million euros with significant wages. He may take less than the 30 million euros (or more) that PSG are offering to play for Los Blancos, but he will still command a high salary.

Do not celebrate until anything is official. But remember, where there is smoke, there is fire. And there is a LOT of smoke linking Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid, well before the opening of the summer transfer window.
