The exact same praise about being a team player with jaw-dropping physical tools can be applied to Vinicius Junior. A former Flamengo standout, Vinicius has proven to be worth every penny, too. In his third season with Real Madrid, Vini is starting to show signs that he’s putting it all together.

He had a woeful stretch of form this season in which he cost the team points, including an elimination to lowly Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey. But he has more than recovered since then. Game after game, Vini has been a positive asset to the Royal White club, including a late equalizer against Real Sociedad that foreshadowed a more electric display against Atalanta. And that, too, foreshadowed arguably the best game of his young career in the next Champions League contest.

This past Tuesday, Eder Militao impressed defensively against Sadio Mane and Co., but Vinicius was the Champions League Player of the Week. He scored a brace, finishing cooly both times to show the world that there is more to Vinicius Junior than hard work and ball-carrying. The 20-year-old looked supremely confident in front of goal for the first time, and we got to see what he’s truly capable of as an offensive weapon in the first leg of the quarterfinals.

Vinicius has so much potential that Real Madrid almost certainly won’t listen to any transfer offer or trade at any price or exchange. They will hold onto Vini. His love for the club is obvious in how he talks about his manager, his teammates, and the team itself. And it is shown in how he plays, never giving up and always fighting for the team on both ends of the pitch. When he celebrates, too, he always makes sure to point to the badge.

A true Madridista, Vinicius has the ability to become the best all-around winger in the world. That is a high standard to reach, but it is one he is capable of meeting in the future. Real Madrid want the best of the best in their ranks, and Vini can get there. He continues to put in the work.
