It has been a tumultuous 2020-2021 season for so many clubs, and Real Madrid have not been exempt from the difficulties of this grueling campaign. They have suffered a total of around 50 injuries – and counting – with a season-ending injury to all-important utility man Lucas Vazquez being the latest blow.

But Real are riding high despite Vazquez’s injury. They just defeated rivals FC Barcelona 2-1 in El Clasico and have now won three straight Clasicos against their bitter rivals. The win means they have a huge advantage over La Blaugrana in the table, and now only Atletico Madrid have at least as many points as Los Blancos. Considering Real have one win and one draw against Los Rojiblancos, they, too, hold an advantage over their crosstown rivals.

Here are five reasons why Los Blancos will win a second straight league title under Zinedine Zidane in 2020-2021.

Atletico Madrid are showing weaknesses

We’ll begin by discussing the club that has led La Liga for most of the 2020-2021 season. Atletico Madrid have yet to play on Matchday 30, as they have a Sunday night match against one of the league’s best sides in Real Betis.

Atleti recently lost to Sevilla, who sit in fourth. Even if they defeated Los Verdiblancos, that does not change the fact that Los Rojiblancos have looked vulnerable lately since their hot start to the season. Real Madrid must still fight hard to win the title over Diego Simeone’s men, but the cracks are beginning to show and their big star, leading scorer Luis Suarez, is currently injured.

In their last six matches in all competitions, Atleti only boast narrow wins over Alaves and Athletic Bilbao. They are tied on points with Real Madrid, but Los Blancos seem to have the momentum.
