The resiliency of Real Madrid

Every game is a final.

How many times have we heard this refrain from Zinedine Zidane? It may be tiresome to some Madridistas, but most fans acknowledge the importance of this mantra. It is the mantra of a champion, and this outlook on each and every match Real Madrid play helped lead to the title win in the tough 2019-2020 campaign.

In many ways, this season is even more difficult, looking at the sheer number of injuries that have been accrued. Real had difficulties in the table earlier this season, to the point where Madridistas were worried about the competitiveness of this squad and Zidane’s future as its manager.

Those questions have been answered forcefully by Zidane, with serious help from an “old guard” that has stepped up greatly in the last few months. Real are undefeated since the start of February, having recovered from a tough loss to Levante.

There have been setbacks this season, especially against sides Real Madrid should have beaten. But each loss has seemingly made Real stronger. It takes a special kind of grit to win a league title in 2020-2021, and Real have that necessary mentality. We have seen it in every big match, including on Matchday 30 against Barcelona.
