Has Eder Militao 100 percent rubbished the transfer rumors?

He could go to Tottenham. He hasn’t fully convinced Zinedine Zidane.

We’ve heard so many rumors about Eder Militao’s future being away from Real Madrid, even though the center back only just signed with Los Merengues in 2019. And unlike, say, Luka Jovic, he’s regularly impressed in big games in the starting XI. Even before the last week, Militao was very good last season against the likes of Manchester City and Athletic Bilbao.

But Militao saved his best individual performances for the three biggest games in a row. With Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos out, Militao was good in the first leg win over Liverpool. He stood firm against Barcelona this weekend, too. And on Wednesday night, Militao saved his best performance for last, making crucial blocks (three, to be precise) and recording seven clearances in a defensive display for the ages.

This latest showing against Liverpool had better shut up the rumor mill. Militao has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he belongs in Madrid, much to the delight of Madridistas who identified his world-class potential last winter.

Competent on the ball, great in the air, and possessing the right mentality for Real Madrid, the 23-year-old Brazilian can have a great career with Los Merengues. If Real lose Sergio Ramos or Raphael Varane this summer, Militao can step right in and start.
